​ Robert “Bigg Robb” Smith is a prolific Southern Soul artist, producer, and songwriter whose career spans over four decades. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, he began his musical journey as a teenage disc jockey at WAIF 88.3 FM, where he earned the nickname “Sugar Daddy from Cincinnati.” 

His early exposure to soul and funk legends like Bootsy Collins and Zapp laid the foundation for his future in music.​In the late 1980s, Bigg Robb connected with Roger Troutman of Zapp, initially serving as his driver before becoming a member of the band. 

Under Troutman's mentorship, Robb honed his skills as a recording engineer and producer, contributing to albums such as Zapp V and Let There Be Love! by Shirley Murdock. Following Troutman's untimely death in 1999, Robb adopted the stage name "Bigg Robb" and embarked on a solo career.​

Since the release of his debut album Cheddar Cheddar in 2000, Bigg Robb has become a cornerstone of the Southern Soul genre. His music blends elements of Midwest funk, R&B, modern blues, contemporary gospel, and Southern soul—a style he dubs “BIGG SOUL.” Notably, he penned the viral hit “Hell to the Naw Naw” by Bishop Bullwinkle, which has garnered over 100 million YouTube views.​

Robb's discography includes over 30 albums, with notable releases such as Jerri Curl Muzic (2009), Soul Prescription (2010), Good Muzic (2019), and Vintage (2023). His 2023 album Vintage features the single “Black Woman Magic,” a tribute to Black women, and includes a collaboration with Charlie Wilson on “Get My Groove.”
